Located near the town of Wasco in Oregon’s Sherman County, the 51-turbine wind farm is sited on almost 28,000 acres of grazing and dry-land wheat farmland and is expected to generate electricity for over 60,000 homes per year. The plant is equipped with 41 Vestas V150 4.3 MW turbines and 10 units of General Electric’s 116 2.5 MW machines.

The output of the wind farm will be sold to Washington state energy utility Puget Sound Energy (PSE) under a power purchase agreement (PPA) signed in May 2020.

Golden Hills is Avangrid Renewables’ 11th wind project in Oregon. The company bought the scheme back in 2017 from its original developer Orion Wind Resources LLC, a joint venture between Orion Renewable Energy Group LLC and Eolian. Construction works were initiated in May last year.

Avangrid Inc is the US subsidiary of Spanish electric utility Iberdrola SA (BME:IBE).
